1. Geography: Tirupur is located in the southern regions of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the river Noyyal at an elevation of 967 feet. It it primarily know for its large volumes of textile exports.

2. Economic profile: The economy of Tiruppur is primarily based on the textile industry. There are over 10,000 garment manufacturing industries in Tiruppur, employing over 600,000 people. As of 2021-22, Tiruppur exported garments worth 5.1 billion USD, contributing to nearly 54% of the all the textile exports from India. The city is known as the knitwear capital of India due to its cotton knitwear export.
